ISCSW is a voice in policy and legislative issues affecting our field.

The ISCSW Board have addressed and discussed the following issues:

  • Decision to join the Coalition for Quality Social Work Education regarding concerns about online MSW programs.
  • The Affordable Care Act (“ACA”) and its impact on individuals with mental health needs. As a result of this discussion, we chose to focus our June, 2014 networking event on topics related to the ACA.
  • Implications of reporting changes for clinicians – including mental health providers – under the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act (“FOID Card Act”).
  • Laws regarding social work licensure reform, including reimbursement by insurance companies.

Please let us know of other policy and legislation topics affecting the field of social work for consideration by the board!
